Volunteer Schedules

Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers are also needed for specific projects (i.e., sorting clothing, shopping for food) that can be done at other times.

Description of Services

Our service area is State Line Road on the west side, 19^th Street on the south side, Campbell Avenue on the east side, and the Missouri River on the north side. If living outside of that area, please call the United Way at 816-474-5112 or at 211 to find the closest agency.

List of Needs for Cathedral Emergency Assistance

For first time consumers, we require official identification and relative documentation of need:

*ACCEPTED PROOF OF INCOME: Examples include paystubs from companies with yellow page listings, awards letters from government agencies, or typed letters from employers on the employer's letterhead. The employer must also have a yellow page listing."

Utility assistance: *proof of income and a bill (e.g. MGE, KCPL, phone)

Rent assistance: *proof of income, lease, and notice of overdue rent or eviction notice. The landlord must be a corporation, not a private individual. Rent and utility: If you have received assistance for rent or utilities in the past 365 days, then you are ineligible to receive assistance from us until that time has passed. The prior requirements for proof of income and other paperwork are still in effect.

Greyhound bus tickets: In the destination city, you must have a family member with a serious medical emergency or a funeral for a child relative. The relative’s doctor or hospital must fax or e-mail verification of the emergency. They do NOT need to tell us the nature of the emergency. The funeral home must fax or e-mail verification of the funeral AND that the deceased is a relative.

One-ride bus fare card

Gasoline for car: Valid driver’s license, valid insurance, proof of ownership. The driver must also be the owner.
